About Me

I've been collecting Coke cans since 1986. While not the biggest collection, I enjoy collecting unique Coke cans and bottles from around the world. I also have an unrestored Vendo 81 in my basement. It's been untouched in 13 years. One of these days I'll restore it to it's full glory. Please take a look at the photo gallery, and if you have a picture to share, go ahead and add it!

new easy grip Coke bottle

Well thank God.  The 2 litre Coke bottle is now an easy grip bottle.  Can’t tell you how many times a Coke bottle has accidentally flown out of my hand, narrowly missing a family member.  My children can all rest easy now.  “Holy shit!” my wife would cry as I picked up the old “round” Coke bottle.  “Be careful!” she would scream as she ran for cover.  Moments later the inferior hard-to-grip bottle would inevidably slip from my grasp, soar through the air like a plastic bullet and crash through the front window.  New easy grip bottle indeed.

Here’s a quote from Coca-Cola’s press release.

A new take on the current 20-ounce contour bottle launched in 1993, the new bottle has added texture and grip enhancements that make it easier to hold and a shorter cap that makes it easier to open. Its contemporary shape not only feels comfortable but also has appealing visual elements, such as an embossed Coca-Cola logo – similar to the glass contour bottle – and the signature dynamic ribbon. The bottle’s new design is completely recyclable and uses 5% less PET than its predecessor, which makes it better for the environment as well. The new contour bottle will begin rolling out in convenience stores on September 4th, and will be available nationwide by early next year.

I too have had narrow misses with the “old style” coke bottle. We can all breath a sigh of relief that the genius marketing crew from Coke have found a remedy to the situation. Now we can have our Coke and drink it too!
