mini vending machines
March 28th, 2010 by Derek
I love these little machines. I like having a cold Coke within arm’s reach when I’m in my office. Check out the picture on the left. It’s a one-can cooler, powered via USB. It doesn’t work terribly well, but it will keep an already-cold can cold. I looked inside it and it uses a CPU cooling can and aluminum heat-sync to cool the can. There are many types of Coke coolers and vending machines. Here are a few examples of electric coolers. Read more »
Coke Zero Bottle
March 26th, 2010 by Derek
I like this Coke Zero bottle picture. Coke Zero is basically Diet Coke for men. It makes sense. Diet Coke is so popular among women, that it may be perceived my some as a drink for ladies. Guys, it seems would rather drink a calorie-reduced or calorie-free drink than a “diet” beverage.  Coke Zero, with it’s cool name and black label is quite masculine. Me? I drink Caffeine-free Diet Coke. I can’t take to much caffeine. Makes me all j-j-j-jumpy.
I found it interesting to learn that while Diet Coke is an entirely different receipe, Coke Zero is a variation of the Coca-Cola formula.
Update: I just learned of Cafine-free Coke Zero. If you’ve tried it, please leave me a comment below!
What do you think? Is Diet Coke to much of a “ladies drink”?
How to Build a Coke Can Stove
March 26th, 2010 by Derek
I ran across this website the other day, with some brilliant instructions on how to build a Coke can stove.  It’s made by assembling the sliced off bottoms of 2 Coke cans, drilling a few holes in it, and filling it with fuel.  I can’t do it justice, you’ll just have to see for yourself.

While I think of it as Sacrilege to destroy a Coke can, some people have made some pretty interesting things from them. I understand you can also make things out of Pepsi cans after you open them and pour the Pepsi down the sink.
Thin Coke Cans
March 22nd, 2010 by Derek
WOW! I love the shape of these thin Coke cans!  These new, tall, thin Coke cans are 300ml, as opposed to 375ml. Can anyone PLEASE tell me more about these cans?  Where are they currently available? Here’s a news item from an Australian site describing the new Coke cans.
Update: I stumbled upon this photo of 3 German Coke cans. They look tall and thin, holding a mere 330ml of the beverage. Thanks to Sebastian for the photo!
He also mentioned to me that in Germany there’s a  25 €- cent (.34US) deposit on cans. WOW!
Why Collect Coke Cans?
March 21st, 2010 by Derek
I’ve been collecting Coke cans since 1986, just as Coke was transitioning between New Coke and Coke Classic.  I wanted to snatch up a few of the “old cans” before they were all gone. I think that part of why I like collecting them is that I am saving a moment in time. Even if it’s just a consumable, throw-away item like an empty Coke can, it still represents something. Read more »
