1960′s Coke can with Diamond Design
Written by Derek on March 10, 2010, 1,390 viewsI was thrilled to receive this photo of a 1960′s Coke can from a reader. Check it out! It’s in great condition and serves as a good example of the earliest Coke can design. I expect it’s made entirely of tin, and what makes it really interesting to me is the top. Marcus (the gentleman how sent me the pictures) included a photo of a second 60′s Coke can with a different top. One had a pull top, the other, a punch top. I never considered that a pop-can would have to be opened the same way you open a can of juice? Does anyone remember when they moved away from pull-and-toss pop tabs to the kind you bend forward and back? Check out this article on the history of soda in cans.

i have a 60′s era coke can like the one pictured.Irecently found under a house in Dallas. There is no rust or sun fade.It was canned at Kimbell foods in Ft. Worth. It is all tin except the top which is aluminum. It is a poptop with opening instructions on the top.I would give the condition as very near mint.I could display it with no cleaning.I do not collect coke so i’m looking to sell it.This is the sixties diamond design as pictured. If your interested please feel free to contact me.Thanks,John Lannin
